Site Survey Technicians

Detectronic is an established manufacturing and service business satisfying the needs of UK Water Utility Companies, we do this by using technology to help reduce flooding and prevent pollution of our rivers and beaches. We specialise in real-time Wastewater Network Monitoring and we are a manufacturer of Smart Level and Flow monitoring instrumentation. We install, maintain and operate on our Clients’ behalf, throughout the UK and overseas.

The Job
You will work independently surveying the suitability of installations for our level monitoring equipment. You will be required to travel to various locations within the Devon and Cornwall areas to locate the manholes. You will need to obtain signal strength using equipment provided and document this detail along with other key elements of the site location.
Weekly reporting of this data is a necessity on your targeted progression of the located manholes/assets. This detail will be fed through to our Project Co-ordinator alongside keeping our Southwest Operations Manager up to date with data collated.

Expectations

  • You will work a 37.5 hour week – these hours can be completed at times to suit your diary Monday to Friday within reason, but you must be available when requested to meet with our South West Operations Manager in our Lifton offices to report on data collated.
  • Have a UK driving licence.
  • Literate, numerate, naturally tidy, organised, have a good work-ethic and have meticulous attention to detail.
  • As this is a lone working role you must be highly motivated.
  • IT-literate and familiar with Microsoft Office, particularly Word/Outlook/Excel
  • Be familiar in the use of mobile phone technology and awareness of how applications work.
  • Be practical, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • Be able to work flexible times and to adapt to changing work schedules.

Regular duties will include but not limited to:

  • Long distance daily driving could form part of this role.
  • Weekly safety checks of your vehicle will be required.
  • Work with others to plan your work schedule and carry out your duties in a logical manner allowing your working days/week to be productive.
  • Cooperate with our technical team and share information across the organisation via weekly reports from our Southern location to the Northwest Office, generally via Teams
  • Produce timely and detailed weekly reports.
  • Follow all company’s filed procedures and protocols.
  • Follow all company Health and Safety instructions.
  • Advise as part of your reports where extra resource may be required to carry out any installation work in the manholes – training will be given on how to recognise this.

Training

Specialised product and application training will be delivered in-house at Detectronic or via Teams.

  • Salary – £21k
  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays.
  • Accrual of one extra holiday day for every full year of service completed, capping at 5 extra days
